TEE "The Earth Explorer" TEE is a five piece flute front progressive rock band from Tokyo, Japan. Their so-called 'European' sound is unique considering their far-east origin. The imaginative tunes with complex ensembles and rhythms will definitely catch the attention of prog lovers all over the world. Their sound will remind you bands like Camel, King Crimson, Asia Minor or even Frank Zappa on some parts. The band was formed in 2004 when... more
Kevin BARTLETT You may not know his name but you have definitely heard his music more than once or twice in your life. Maybe on HBO, or on MTV, or on VH1, Comedy Central, Discovery Channel. Doesn't ring the bell? How about American Idol Rewind, or Dr. 90210? We had interviewed Kevin Bartlett a couple of years ago when his second solo album GLOW IN THE DARK was released. Bartlett has been quiet since that time but but he has been secretly brewing new projects. A few months ago he had put a new song...more

TheProgFiles.Com is a review site dedicated to progressive music of all genres. We respect each and every musician that makes an effort to create their own music and to express their art outside the mainstream. The mainstream music industry as we know it today, is the living definition of artificial. The albums are made to "consume" fast only to be "put away" to move on to the next trend. However, there are many artists on the fringe who are brave enough to create what they believe is right and thereby creating timeless music. No matter what genre they are coming from, we embrace them, and dedicate this site to their work. TheProgFiles is always accepting submissions for a unique opportunity to have your music reviewed on our site. We are interested in all things progressive - from all over the world. The progressive bug has bit artists in all genres including Rock, Metal, Jazz, Celtic, Folk and even Bluegrass - if it's got a prog twist, we want to hear it. If you have a CD you'd like to submit for a review, please feel free to send it to the address below: PO BOX 131 La Harpe, IL 61450 USA
Hande Burdg Feel free to skip my reviews if you are one of the below: 1. If you think the term prog only applies to rock and metal 2. If you think the term prog applies to all other genres the same way it does to rock and metal 3. If you think only people whose mother language is English should write in English (at least publicly) I will use and abuse the language however I see fit, because after all, I am just a woman..... Please feel free to contact me HERE for any questions or comments.
Nelson Lee I’ve been in love with all styles of progressive music since I first listened to my older sister’s Genesis and Queen records as a kid back in the mid-seventies. This sparked a desire in me to constantly seek out artists to listen to who pushed the creative envelope. Aside from listening to music (a lot), I have enjoyed it for the past two decades as a songwriter, piano/keyboard player and a vocalist. To me there are many elements in music that have the potential to convey a progressive or “out of the box” feel. From the obvious elements such as song structure/arrangement and rhythms to melody and instrumentation to the sometimes not-so-obvious elements such as a vocal style, progressive means many things to different people. But the one idea that defines progressive as it applies to music is this: that it is outside the mainstream. Because I mostly prefer progressive rock, hard rock and metal I enjoy tracing the roots of Prog rock through the years to the present. With that admission of preference, I have soft spot for the most excellent Kate Bush and many other artists who turn popular music on its head. Feel free to contact me HERE
Dale Juday Background: Over a decade of active involvement in progressive rock music. Understanding what is involved in the song writing structure and what's behind a composition hopefully puts me in a position to understand what it entails. As a recording artist myself, I'm experienced at the ins and outs of a studio session and what's involved to package and market the end "product"... and I have a distaste for it all! Which is why I find myself drawn into progressive music. Creating music for one's self (afterall music is an art of self-expression), despite the fact it may not sell, is indeed a admirable thing. Why you should care about my reviews: You shouldn't! What I hope to bring to the table and offer you is insight into the accomplished work of a particular artist, to give you the brass tax as it were, and possibly offer you the tools to make an informed decision to run out and buy the CD... or not. It's my goal to bring you my opinion about any given piece of music the same way you and I would sit at a table over a drink and discuss what's so great about it. Minus the pretentious & affluent sounding mumbo-jumbo. Feel free to contact me HERE |
